XCBF TC Past Announcements

The following announcements appeared at one time or another on the XCBF web page.

XCBF is now an OASIS Committee Specification. The January 20 verison of the document reached this important milestone by passing a TC ballot concluding on January 27, 2003. The TC also voted to enter the public review period necessary to allow the document to move forward for eventual consideration as an OASIS Standard.

The OASIS XCBF document went to Committee Specification ballot on January 7, 2003. The ballot will conclude January 20, 2003.

The Web Services Security XCBF Token Profile has been submitted to the OASIS Web Services Security TC (WSS) on Monday, 25 November 2002. The document was edited by Phillip H. Griffin (Griffin Consulting) and Monica J. Martin (Drake Certivo Inc). For more information see the Cover Pages Newsletter.

The next XCBF TC meeting will be a face-to-face meeting held on Monday December 9, 2002 in Baltimore, Maryland USA. The TC will meet in room 315 of the Baltimore Convention Center on One West Pratt Street. The meeting room is being provided by the IDEAlliance and the XCBF TC meeting will coincide with the XML Conference and Exposition 2002.

OASIS has invited all members to attend a reception in the convention center, Wednesday night from 7 - 8:30 pm.

Phil Griffin will take part in a financial services industry standards panel November 18, 2002 that will be a featured session at the upcoming Financial Services Information Day, hosted by the OMG and held in conjunction with their Integrate 2002 Conference November 19-20 in Washington, D.C. Phil Griffin will be speaking at the Digital ID World 2002 Conference to be held in Denver, Colorado, USA, 9-12 October 2002. The conference will focus on technology related to digital identification and biometrics. Phil will present on the "OASIS XCBF and X9.84 XML Biometric Security Standards. Phil Griffin will be speaking at the RSA Conference 2002, Europe October 8, 2002 at Le Palais des Congrès de Paris, France. Phil will present an update on "Canonical XML Encoding Rules (cXER) for Secure Messages - An ASN.1 Schema for XML Markup", an update of the presentation he made earlier this year at the RSA Conference in San Jose, California. This update stresses the work done in XCBF and the recent alignment with the X9.84 revisions. . Taylor Boon of BioNetrix will speak on the proposed OASIS XML Common Biometric Format (XCBF) standard at the Standards News "Marathon" for BC2002 program at the Biometric Consortium Conference 2002 to be held in Crystal City, Virginia, September 23-25,2002. Information on the XCBF TC will be presented at the joint OASIS/W3C XML Web Services One Conference and Expo in Boston, MA during the week of August 26-30, 2002. Phil Griffin will be speaking at the Biometric Acceleration 2002 Conference to be held in Washington, D.C., USA, 10-12 June 2002. The conference will bring together leading enterprises and developers of biometric solutions to discuss the critical challenges of deploying biometric security. Alessandro Triglia will be speaking at the XML Europe 2002 Conference in Barcelona, Spain, 21-23 May, 2002. Alessandro will present "The ASN.1 Language as a New Schema Definition Language for XML", and will emphasize standardization activitis such as OASIS XCBF and ANSI X9.96 XML Cryptographic Message Syntax (XCMS) that will benefit from this new technology. Phil Griffin will be speaking at the ITU-T Workshop on Security, Seoul, Republic of Korea, 13-14 May 2002. Phil will present "Biometric Information Management for Security."
