Chapter 10. Help! My Credit Card Wasn't Accepted

Some Tips You Can Try

If your credit card isn't accepted and you're sure you have sufficient funds available, here are some of the most common causes and work-arounds for each.

  • Typos are the most common cause of failed authorizations. Make sure all your credit card information is entered correctly.

  • If you are asked for a security code and cannot supply one, see Your Credit Card Security Code.

  • Check the expiration date to make sure it is entered correctly and that the card hasn't expired.

  • A perfectly valid credit card authorization can be temporarily blocked by technical issues, such as a busy or unavailable system or an internet connection problem. If this is the case, your card should work as soon as service has been restored. You might wait a while, then try your credit card again.

  • If none of these tips work in your situation, you can try another credit card or contact an administrator.
