The Delete a List Type tool is used to delete custom List Types. A deleted List Type is permanently removed from the database and is no longer available in the Add a Mailing List or Edit a Mailing List tools.
Default List Types cannot be deleted. If neither the Edit nor Delete link are displayed on the Manage Mailing Lists page, this is a default List Type. It can be deactivated through the Change List Type Status tool if it is not in use.
Custom List Types that are currently in use by one or more lists cannot be deleted. If the Edit link is displayed on the Manage Mailing Lists page but the Delete link is not, this is a custom List Type that is currently in use. To delete a custom List Type that is in use, click the View link on the Manage Mailing List page and check the Existing Lists field to see which mailing lists are using this type. You can switch these list to a different (but compatible!) List Type through the Edit a Mailing List tool. When you return to the Manage List Types page, the Delete link will be displayed.
Important
Deleting a List Type is permanent. If you do not want to delete this List Type, you can deactivate it through the Change List Type Status tool.
Select the List Type you wish to delete and click Delete. If you accessed this tool from the Manage List Types page, this step has already been performed.
Information about this List Type is displayed for you to review. If you are certain you wish to delete this List Type, click Confirm Deletion.
Important
Deleting a List Type is permanent.
