Chapter 129. Configure Global Membership Applications

Overview

Use the Configure Global Membership Applications tool to set text to be displayed on pages where available membership types are listed along with links to application forms plus end user instructions for the Membership Status page.

If Kavi® Billing is installed, this tool is also used to configure the general workflow for the membership application and renewal processes. Even though this workflow will apply to all the organization's memberships, billing and moderation are enabled in the membership type, so new or renewed memberships that aren't billed automatically pass the billing step and unmoderated memberships automatically pass the moderation step.

Use the Configure Global Membership Applications tool to:

Set the text to be displayed at the top of the 'Company Memberships' and 'Individual Memberships' pages.

Configure the membership application and renewal processes for sites where Kavi® Billing is installed.

How to Configure Global Membership Applications

Global Process

These options will be displayed if Kavi Billing is installed. Set the order in which billing and moderation are to occur, then specify whether the membership process is to be gated on payment of the bill or not.

New Membership Application Process

Use this option to set whether billing or moderation occurs first in the new membership workflow. Select 'Issue a bill, then moderate membership' if new membership applications should be billed first, then moderated; or select 'Moderate membership, then issue a bill' if new membership applications should be moderated first, then billed.

Membership Renewal Process

Use this option to set whether billing or moderation occurs first in the membership renewal workflow. Select 'Issue a bill, then moderate membership' if membership renewal applications should be billed first, then moderated; or select 'Moderate membership, then issue a bill' if membership renewal applications should be moderated first, then billed.

Billing Options — Wait for Bills to Be Paid

Select whether nonpayment of a bill keeps a membership from being approved or not. If this option is set to 'Bill must be paid in order for the membership process to proceed' memberships remain in a pending state until the bill is marked as paid. If this option is set to 'Membership will move through the billing state even if membership bills are not paid.', memberships with unpaid bills proceed immediately to the next step in the membership workflow. Depending on configuration, these memberships may be sent for moderation or they may go current immediately.

Enter the content to be displayed at the top of the 'Company Memberships' and 'Individual Memberships' pages as plain text or HTML. Variables are replaced by the appropriate value when the text is rendered.

Membership End-User Instructions

Enter the content to be displayed on the Membership Status page to the . Variables are replaced by the appropriate value when the text is rendered. Membership Status is a public page so users who are sent links via email or who have bookmarked this page can view it even if their account is deactivated or types and roles have been stripped because of membership expiration or archival.

Current Membership End User Instructions

Enter plain-text or HTML instructions to be displayed on the Membership Status page to individual members or representatives of companies with current memberships.

Expired Membership End User Instructions

Enter plain-text or HTML instructions to be displayed on the Membership Status page to individual members or representatives of companies whose memberships have expired.

Archived Membership End User Instructions

Enter plain-text or HTML instructions to be displayed on the Membership Status page to individual members or representatives of companies whose memberships have been archived.

You've just configured the global application and renewal options for this organization. Your new settings will be implemented immediately!
