Delete a Document

Use this form to permanently delete a document (and its associated comments) from the Group Documents page list. Deleting a document permanently removes it from the Group documents list only; it does not remove the file from the local source (for example, a user's hard drive). Note: To delete a document, you must have Document Manage privileges.

To delete a document:

  1. From All Groups, click the name of the group containing the document you want to delete. This takes you to the home page for that group.
  2. Click the Documents tab. This takes you to the Documents page for that group.
  3. Find the document you want to delete on the list of documents.
  4. Under Action, click Manage. This takes you to the selected document's Details page.
  5. Click Delete. This takes you to the Delete Document page.
  6. Confirm this is the document you want to delete by verifying Document Details are correct.
  7. Click Delete Document to delete the document or Cancel to return to the Document Details page without deleting the document.

Important: Once you click Delete Document, the document (and its associated comments) is immediately deleted - there is no message asking you to confirm the deletion. Be absolutely sure you want to delete a document before you do so. Once a document is deleted, it cannot be recovered.

  1. If you click Delete Document, the document is deleted and you go to the Delete Document - Success page. From this page, you can select to return to the Group Documents page or the All Groups page. The deleted document (and its associated comments) is permanently removed from the Group Documents page and can no longer be viewed/downloaded.

Note: All calendar events that are associated with this document are modified to reflect the document is no longer associated with them (the document no longer appears as a Reference Document on the Event Details Page). Email threads that have a link to the document may still exist. If a user clicks on the link in an email for a deleted document, they will get a "Document does not exist" message.
