Kavi Mailing List Manager Help

Chapter 67. Subscriber Logs

Overview

The Subscriber Logs tool is used to view and download a mailing list's subscriber logs, which contains entries that show when an email address was added or removed from one of the Subscriber Lists. The information in the report is derived from records of events captured in the ezmlm subscriber logs. Because these logs are managed by ezmlm, they don't show who made the change (e.g., whether it was a subscriber or an administrator) but they do show whether the change was initiated via an ezmlm email command (i.e., 'Normal (via email)') or via Kavi Mailing List Manager webtools (i.e., 'Manual (via web)').

Note

More detailed subscriber logs information is available in the ezmlm logs, which can be retrieved by administrators. For more information on ezmlm logs, visit the ezmlm site at www.ezmlm.org.

Use the Subscriber Logs tool to:

  • Generate, view and download a mailing list's subscriber logs.

  • Discover when the subscription status of a specific email address changed and whether the change was initiated through Kavi Mailing List Manager tools or ezmlm email commands.

The Subscriber Logs for this mailing list is displayed. You may use the fields at the top of the form to filter the report by Subscription Type (e.g., 'Regular Subscriber', 'Moderator', etc.), Email Address, Action (e.g., 'added', 'removed', etc.) and/or Action Type. If you set filter criteria in more than one field, only those entries that meet all your criteria are displayed. Use any of the search fields to refine your filter criteria, then click Search. If you want to download your results, click the Download button. Click View Another if you would like to generate another Subscriber Log.

Options:

Download

Download this report as a .csv (comma-separated values) datafile that you can open and view with any spreadsheet application.

List Name

The name of this mailing list.

Date and Time

The timestamp for this entry, showing the date and time that the event occurred. This value is based on the server time zone. If this is a Kavi-hosted website, this value shows Pacific Standard Time (PST).

Email Address

An email address subscribed to this mailing list (or more specifically, an email that appears on one or more of this mailing list's Subscriber Lists). Click the column heading if you want to see the results sorted by email address. Click again if you want them displayed in reverse order.

Subscription Type

The Subscription Type shows which of this mailing list's Subscriber Lists this email address is subscribed to. An email address can be subscribed to more than one Subscriber List, so it can be associated with more multiple Subscription Types (e.g., an email address belonging to a mailing list moderator could be subscribed as a 'Moderator' so that moderation requests can be handled through this email address, and as a 'Regular Subscriber' so messages posted to the mailing list are sent to this address). Click the column heading if you want to see the results sorted by Subscription Type. Click again to have them displayed in reverse order.

Action

Indicates whether an email address was 'Added' or 'Removed' from one of this mailing list's Subscriber Lists.

Origination

The origination indicates how a change recorded in an Activity History was initiated. In Kavi Mailing List Manager this is either 'Manual (via web)', indicating this email address was subscribed or unsubscribed through webtools or automated synchronization with Kavi Members, or 'Normal (via email)', indicating this email address was subscribed or unsubscribed via ezmlm email commands.
