Chapter 65. User Activity History

Overview

Use the User Activity History tool to create customized views and reports of user-related activity for troubleshooting or reporting purposes,including user data changes, membership status changes, email activity and notes added by administrators. Data recorded for each activity includes the activity's origin, when it occurred and the type of activity.

  • Create a real-time overview of changes to user data in the Kavi Members database.

  • See which emails were sent to a user or group of users.

  • Get information useful for troubleshooting.

  • Download user activity information.

If you need to know which database fields were affected by the change, use the User Activity Log tool.

If you want to access user data for a specific user or group of users, use a User Data Report.

Using the User Activity History

Search

Select the user whose activity history you wish to view, then set any of the optional fields to refine the search criteria.

User

Select the name of the user whose activity history you want to see. The full name of each available user is displayed, frequently accompanied by the user's email address. The default value is All Users.

After This Time

Use this field to set a point in time. The User Activity History will include only those changes logged after the time specified.

Before This Time

Use this field to set a point in time. The User Activity History will include only those changes logged before the time specified.

Note

The time fields can be used together to specify a bounded time range beginning at the time set in the After This Time field and ending at the time set in the Before This Time field.

Who Initiated Action

Use this field to search for changes initiated by a particular user, identified by username.

Activity Type

Set this value to search for changes with a specific Activity Type. This can be one of many default activity types (e.g., Added, Edited, Renewed, etc.) or an activity type specific to this organization.

Origination

Set this value to search for changes with a specific origin. This commonly includes:

All Originations

Changes may have any Origination.

Admin Addition

Changes made independently by the organization administrator.

Automated

Changes made by automated tools, such as automatic deactivation for expired members.

Manual

Changes made by using online user information management tools.

Upload

Data added using an upload tool.

Done

A User Activity History is displayed, according to the search criteria you provided. You may opt to get a report or download, or click Add a User Activity Record if you wish to add a new activity or comment to this user's activity history.

The report displays the following columns:

Time

The date and time of the change.

Origination

As described previously.

Who Initiated Action

The username of the user that initiated the change. The username 'system' indicates an automated or uploaded change. If this is 'Anonymous User,' the change was made from a publicly accessible page.

Activity Type

As described previously.

User

The username of the user whose information was changed.
